Leigh posed the question, “have you ever made a one hour basket?”
About 50% had previously made this project.
Leigh demonstrated the steps to make a one hour basket. Those who want to participate are
asked to answer the questionnaire on the blog and will be matched up with someone. Sign up
will end by February 1. The swap will take place at the April 27 meeting. More information and
pattern links can be found on the blog.
Fabric Swaps – The February fabric swap is Tula Pink fabrics. Participants are asked to bring
one yard of fabric, cut into fat eights (9 x 22) folded and in a zip lock bag with their name on it.
Fat eighths will be divided up among the participants. Other swaps will include, Ruby Star,
Kaffe Fassett, Allison Glass and Rifle Paper fabrics. Heather is heading up the fabric swaps this
year. Additional information about the fabric swaps listed on the blog under meeting
information.
Challenges – Bonnie is heading up the guild challenges this year. At the January meeting, a
piece of the color of the year fabric, Crush was handed out to those who want to participate.
The challenge is to use the Crush color in any type project. Only completed projects will
receive a ticket to be used in a drawing for a prize. These projects are due at the March 23
meeting. Additional information about the other challenges is listed on the blog.
Leigh discussed having a UFO (unfinished objects) challenge. More information will be
presented at the next meeting regarding this.
Instead of a mystery quilt this year we are going to be doing a sew along quilt. We will all be
working on a string quilt. Each month you will be bring one or more blocks in to show the club
at the monthly meeting. There are no rules for what method you follow just that you complete
one block each month. Some Themes are scrappy, rainbow, same color family, and selvages.
Another way to help your design is to look up #stringquilts on Instagram.
The block raffle for January was a heart block. 4 people brought 9 blocks and Courtney was the
winner of the blocks! Congratulations Courtney.
