22 people attended, including 1 first time attendee.
The meeting was opened by Leigh asking each person to say their name and many had brought a favorite
notion. Each explained why it was their favorite. Favorites included a cutrite bind up, a blade save trimmer, a
purple thang, a thimble pad. Someone said they were on the look out for a lighted seam ripper.
Name tag drawing – wear your name tag each month and receive a ticket. A ticket will be drawn for a prize.
2023 dues of $10 are now due. Cash only.
Those who had unwanted items to sell, brought them to the April 27 meeting to sell to other members.
Fabric swap 9 people participated in the Ruby Star fabric swap, which is one yard of fabric, cut into fat eighths.
May meeting fabric swap is Kaffe Fassett fabric.
Basket swap 12 members participated in the basket swap. See FB for pictures.
Pin cushion swap – make a pin cushion of your choice, bring to the June 22 meeting and swap with another
member.
Challenges – no challenge due at April meeting. Due at May meeting is a challenge to turn a traditional block
into a modern block and make that into a finished project. At March meeting, Bonnie showed some books
that talk about this method. She suggested Tula Pink, 100 modern blocks. The modern block you choose
should be used in a finished project to qualify for a prize.
Show and Tell – 12 members shared their projects. See FB for pictures.
Instead of a mystery quilt this year we are going to be doing a sew along quilt. We will all be working
on a string quilt. Each month you will be bring one or more blocks in to show the club at the monthly
meeting. There are no rules for what method you follow just that you complete one block each month.
Some Themes are scrappy, rainbow, same color family, and selvages. Another way to help your
design is to look up #stringquilts on Instagram.
