Meeting May 22, 2025
6:00 PM Old Worthington Library
24 members attended including 1 new member. Wear your name tag each month and be entered
in the drawing for a prize. 2025 dues
of $10 are now due. Cash or venmo.
We all introduced ourselves and
answered Leigh’s question. . “Have you
ever made a zipper pouch? Most members
answered yes and there were about 5 members who have never made a zipper pouch.
Leigh did a demo on sewing a zipper pouch. She typically buys long zippers and cuts
them down to fit. When using metal zippers, she removes the teeth before
sewing. Leigh uses waterproof fabric for
lining. She topstitches the main fabric
only, does not topstitch the lining. She
demonstrated Petal Pouch from Noodlehead. A member mentioned that Sallie Tomato has faux
metal zippers that are really nylon.
They also have zippers by the yard, no pulls.
Zipper pouch swap
Make your favorite zipper pouch, wrap
it in a bag and bring it to the June 26 meeting. All those who participate will leave with a
pouch that another member made.
Susan presented a power point presentation of her
sewing room. In addition to her sewing accessories, she had decorated her room
with many special mementos. It is fun to get a glimpse into each other’s
sewing spaces. This is the first of
several scheduled each month during 2025.
Thanks Susan and thanks Katy for organizing this. Note to others, bring HDMI cord to connect to
library equipment.
Fabric swap this month was Tula Pink fabric. Several people participated. There are 2 fabric swaps remaining this
year. Each swap should include 4 fat quarters (18 x
21) and each FQ does not have to be the
same fabric, but does have to be the same designer or type. The next fabric swap is July – batik fabric and September Kaffe
Fassett.
Panel Challenge – 14 members participated in the panel
challenge. Many beautiful quilts, wall hangings
and bags were made. Pictures on
FaceBook.

reminds you of summer. This project is
due at July 24 meeting.
