BLOCK RAFFLE ANNOUNCEMENT! Let's get a jump on things, shall we? We'll go over this in the August meeting (it wont' be DUE until later!), but it doesn't hurt to have it early. This time around we'll be doing two things that seem to scare most of us: half-square triangles, and improv! What fun!
Here is the tutorial to follow.
It is a two-at-a-time method for making HST blocks. Each block turned in for the raffle should be 6" square (then when they’re sewn together eventually they’ll be 5.5”). For your improv, you can piece this however you like. The tutorial shows some stripes, and courthouse steps, and a full improv version.
The only rule: use BLACK fabric as your background. Your scrappy side can be whatever colors/patterns you like. So in the end, you'll have a black triangle on one side, and a scrappy bit of fun on the other!
Here are some examples of quilts using this method. Just for some inspiration.
And here are some that our members made early on their last retreat!
Enjoy!
