March Meeting Notes

Meeting April 23, 2026   6:00 PM   First Unitarian Universalist Church

17 members attended.  Wear your name tag each month and be entered in the drawing for a prize.    Dues of $10 per member are still being collected.   Leigh asked the question, Is there a pattern that you had made more than once?   Or is there a pattern you would never make again?  Probably half of the members had made a pattern more than once and several definitely had a pattern they would never make again!

At our first of the year meeting, all in attendance gave a prediction of how many quilt tops they would complete this year.    Leigh asked each one and we had 10 quilt tops completed to date.

The Pillow cover project was due at this April meeting.  9 members participated.   Pictures are on FB.

Challenge coordinator is Heather.  Heather presented our first challenge due November 2026.  Each participant will create a quilt using only three (3) yards of fabric for the quilt top.  The goal of this challenge is to inspire creativity, efficient fabric use and unique design within a shared constraint

Ugly Fabric challenge members brought a fat quarter to the March meeting.   We put them in a bag and each drew a piece of fabric.   The challenge is to make a project with this fabric which is due at the May meeting.

Fabric swap coordinator is Olivia.   We have 2 remaining fabric swaps this year.  June is any holiday fabric and September is stripes or polka dots.  For each swap the member should bring the specific fabric, cut in 4 fat quarters (21x18).  The fat quarters do not have to be 4 of the same fabric, but need to follow the swap guidelines.   They should be put in a bag with the member’s name on it.

Leslie is the retreat coordinator.  Retreat scheduled for April 30 to May 3 2026 at Hotel Millersburg.  Right now, we have 1 retreat scheduled in 2026. There will be a limit of 16 people at the retreat. After 16 people sign up there will be a waitlist.  Please see below for reservation instructions and do not reserve your room online.

Linda Leviton – several members participated in the private class for indigo fabric dying led by Linda Leviton.   The dyed pieces they showed at our meeting were stunning.   All who attended really enjoyed the class.  Thanks, Bonnie, for organizing this!

5 minute hustle – This is a new program for our group.  Heather told us about her creation “Hobby Nest” which is a website where hobbyists can buy, sell and trade your hobby supplies.  She and her husband have spent many hours and dollars creating a top-notch platform.   You can find more information at www.hobbynest.com, FB @hobbynest, Pinterest @hobbynestmarket,  Instagram @hobbynestmarket.

Any interested members who would like to participate in 5-minute hustle, please contact Leigh.

Phone/email list -There was discussion about compiling an email and phone list of members.   This list could be a hand out at meetings and would not be published in any manner.

Christmas – Holiday meeting gift swap.   Leigh suggested that we swap notions this year.

Show and Tell - 16 members participated in show and tell.  Beautiful work everyone.  Pictures on FB.

My Very Own Blanket – volunteer opportunity – Several members meet up once a month  at My Very Own Blanket offices in Westerville.   More information on this volunteer opportunity can be obtained at monthly meeting. From Michelle C
