Meeting May 28, 2026 6:00 PM Old Worthington Library
17 members attended and we welcomed 2 new attendees. Wear your name tag each month. Leigh asked the question, What is the most unusual fabric you have ever used in a quilt? Or is there a pattern you would never make again? Several members have only used quilting cotton, but several people have used clothing pieces in quilts and an art quilter had used many different materials, including candy bags, dryer sheets, netting to name a few.
Ugly fabric challenge 11 people participated in this challenge. Projects ranged from table runners and toppers to varied bags, Drop Zone bag, Mondo bag, petal pouch.
Challenge coordinator is Heather. Heather presented our next challenge, a 2-color challenge. All in attendance picked 2 colors and these colors should be featured in the project we make, which will be due at our September 2026 meeting. Our first challenge of 2026 is due November 2026. Each participant will create a quilt using only three (3) yards of fabric for the quilt top. The goal of this challenge is to inspire creativity, efficient fabric use and unique design within a shared constraint
Fabric swap coordinator is Olivia. June is any holiday fabric and September is stripes or polka dots. For each swap the member should bring the specific fabric, cut in 4 fat quarters (21x18). The fat quarters do not have to be 4 of the same fabric, but need to follow the swap guidelines. They should be put in a bag with the member’s name on it.
Project bag swap – A project bag can organize your sewing project in a sturdy bag with a vinyl or mesh front. A few examples are shown on the website. By Annie.com has a pattern for these bags. Bring your completed bag to the September meeting, wrapped in a gift bag. All who wish to participate will select a wrapped bag to take home.
Block raffle – Flower Power hexies – Courtney presented the flower power hexie block raffle inspired by Julie’s quilt, which will be due at the July 23 meeting. Pattern is found on Facebook. Participants will receive one ticket for each block made and a winner of all the blocks will be drawn.
July sew in – Courtney is coordinating a guild sew in on Saturday July 25, 2026 at the Dublin Library from 9 am to 5 pm. More info to follow, but we may charge a small fee to provide some door prizes and box lunches may be pre ordered and brought in. More information at June meeting.
Leslie is the retreat coordinator. Retreat for 2027 is scheduled for June 3 to 6, 2027 at Hotel Millersburg. There will be a limit of 16 people at the retreat. After 16 people sign up there will be a waitlist. Please see Facebook or contact Leslie for more information.
5 minute hustle – This is a new program for our group. Heather told us about her creation “Hobby Nest” which is a website where hobbyists can buy, sell and trade your hobby supplies. She and her husband have spent many hours and dollars creating a top-notch platform. You can find more information at www.hobbynest.com, FB @hobbynest, Pinterest @hobbynestmarket, Instagram @hobbynestmarket.
Any interested members who would like to participate in 5-minute hustle, please contact Leigh.
Phone/email list – A sign up sheet for name, phone and email address has been provided to members through Facebook/ google docs. The final date to sign up is June 1. This list could be a hand out at meetings and would not be published in any manner.
