See you soooon!

 Sewing Machine, (with plug) extension cord, and power strip (label all your stuff)
 Sewing supplies and projects
 Demo materials if you are providing a demo
 Sweater for comfort—perhaps a pillow for chair
 Items for the “sale table” (with your name and price)
 Cash or check to purchase from the “Sale table”
 A snack to share—maybe your favorite holiday cookie?
 Lunch will be served

Birthday Party Wrap Up!

October Meeting:  Happy Third Birthday to Us!

(Thanks Barb (See her blog here!) for taking notes!!)

Prior to the feast and festivities, we did address some business.

The weekend of November 2 is a busy one…
·         The sewing retreat at the Keller Williams Real Estate office on East Wilson Bridge Road is November 2. Thanks to Kathy F for the beautiful space and Kathy G and June for coordinating! There will be demos, prizes, and lunch as well as a lovely space to sew in with your friends for a day. Who could ask for more? $5 will save you a seat and table to spread out.

·         Joanna let us know that November 1 and 2 Dabble & Stitch in Clintonville will be celebrating with 20-50% off fabric. Other merchandise will be on sale as well. Check it out!

·         And on November 2 is the 25th Annual Holly-Day Bazaar as the Westerville Community UCC on County Line Road in Westerville. Our very own Nancy is co-chair. This bazaar is a great one with a raffle, hand crafted items and baked goods. Oh and I would be remiss for not mentioning that Santa will be there from 10:00-1:00 (his busy season is about to begin so it’s great that they got him early for those photos). Admission is $2 and includes a raffle ticket.

Speaking of Santa, Jaclyn is coordinating our guild’s Secret Santa exchange. Everyone that was interested submitted their name, email address, fabric likes/don’t likes all that kind of stuff. Then we were paired up with a partner. In December a sewing-related gift valued at $12 will be exchanged.

We’re under new management starting next month! We’ll have Quint-chairs: Ann, Jaclyn, Joanna, Jana, and Nicole all stepped up to the plate to lead us into our 4th year as a guild. Woo hoo!

And thanks too to Dana, Abbe, and Stacey for being our leaders for the past two years. Job well done!

Be sure to mark your calendars for our November meeting. We’re having a guest speaker.  It should be fun.
See you all next month!

Annual Party this Thursday!

Hope lots of folks can make it for our annual party this Thursday, October 17th at 7 pm at Quilt Trends.  We'll have fabric games (you'll need to bring fabric to participate), and lovely door prizes! Plus delicious food!

So what do you need to bring? Just yourself is plenty! Come on out and join the fun!

But optional extras could include:

1. One (or two) Trip Around the World Blocks for our block raffle (more info here)

2.Fabric for our optional fabric games -

Musical Chairs – Bring 1 yard of nice fabric – text fabric if you can (you know, that cute fabric that’s out with letters, alphabet, etc.) Everyone passes the fabric around until; you guessed it, the music stops. Cut the fabric in half. Keep half and pass half. When the music stops; do it again. The fun continues until the strip is 1/8 yard. Bring scissors if you can because a lot of us ripped fabric last time and it didn’t always work very well.
Quilter’s Strip Poker – bring strips from a jelly roll or cut your own. Cards are dealt and whoever has the highest card wins the whole kit & caboodle.
3. Some food for our buffet table - It's a party after all!

4. Any works in progress or completed quilts you might have to show and tell

Block Swap Reminder!

Just a quick reminder that we're having an optional Block Swap at our October 17th Party meeting! Those interested can make a Scrappy Trip Around the World block in bright modern colors - Everyone who brings a finished block gets a raffle ticket. We draw one ticket and Voila! That person gets all of the blocks. How great is that??

Go to quiltville.blogspot.com and see the pattern for the Scrappy Trip Around the World (http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/scrappy-trips-around-world.html)

You can also bring fabric for our other games:

Musical Chairs – Bring 1 yard of nice fabric – text fabric if you can (you know, that cute fabric that’s out with letters, alphabet, etc.) Everyone passes the fabric around until; you guessed it, the music stops. Cut the fabric in half. Keep half and pass half. When the music stops; do it again. The fun continues until the strip is 1/8 yard. Bring scissors if you can because a lot of us ripped fabric last time and it didn’t always work very well.

September Meeting Notes!

CMQG Meeting Notes
September 2013 – Looking forward to our coming year
(Thanks to Barb for taking notes!)

Seatbelt Covers were swapped with all of the appropriate ooohs and aahhhhs
New Officers – A signup sheet went around to see who would like to lead our guild into our 4th year. Next month we’ll find out who will be helping out
Secret Santa – Jaclyn is going to organize a Secret Santa for those who want to participate. More news at the October meeting!
October is our Third Birthday! – Be sure and come celebrate with us! A food sign up list went around for goodies at the meeting. What would a birthday celebration be without games?? Here are a few that we’ll be playing – feel free to participate in some or all of them:

·         Quilter’s Strip Poker – bring strips from a jelly roll or cut your own. Cards are dealt and whoever has the highest card wins the whole kit & caboodle.

·         Musical Chairs – Bring 1 yard of nice fabric – text fabric if you can (you know, that cute fabric that’s out with letters, alphabet, etc.) Everyone passes the fabric around until; you guessed it, the music stops. Cut the fabric in half. Keep half and pass half. When the music stops; do it again. The fun continues until the strip is 1/8 yard. Bring scissors if you can because a lot of us ripped fabric last time and it didn’t always work very well.

·         Block Swap – Go to quiltville.blogspot.com and see the pattern for the Scrappy Trip Around the World (http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/scrappy-trips-around-world.html) . Make one in a bright color combo. Everyone who brings a finished block gets a raffle ticket. We draw one ticket and Voila! That person gets all of the blocks. How great is that??
All Day Sew In – June and Kathy G. are the brains behind this fun event: our very own Kathy F. with Keller Williams Realty has generously offered her office as a spot for a sew in. (Some of you may remember that we met there for our monthly meeting once last year.) Be sure to mark your calendar for November 2 from 9:00 – 5:00. A $5 donation will hold your spot and in turn you will be fed (they say “lunch” but I have a feeling there will be some all-day grazing going on), receive a participant gift and be able partake in fun events throughout the day. Whew! That’s a lot of fun for less than the price of two Starbuck’s Macchiatos, my friends.
Quilt Show: Heart of Ohio Quilters Guild is having their show October 4 and 5 at Bryn Du Mansion Field House. It’s at 537 Jones Road in Granville. They will have over 100 quilts made by their members, demonstrations, vendors, door prizes, a silent auction and red work raffle quilt. General Admission is $5 Hours are Friday 10 AM-8PM and Saturday 10 AM to 5PM. Parking is Free. For more info check out http://heartofohioquilters.com/index.php/quilt-show-mainmenu-185.
December Party – Joanna graciously offered the shop, Dabble and Stitch in Clintonville for our December meeting. It’s a new sewing lounge that sounds great. More info to come on the December Party, in the meantime for your reading pleasure, here’s the link to the shop: http://www.dabbleandstitch.com/
See you next month at our birthday celebration!
