Meeting January 22, 2026

  Old Worthington Library

21  members attended.  Wear your name tag each month and be entered in the drawing for a prize.    Dues of $10 per member are currently being collected.   Leigh asked the question, what is your goal for quilt tops finished this year?  Crib size or bigger.   Most said from 1 to 5.

Challenge coordinator is Heather.  Heather presented our first challenge due in November 2026.  Each participant will create a quilt using only three (3) yards of fabric for the quilt top. The goal of this challenge is to inspire creativity, efficient fabric use, and unique design within a shared constraint. Only the quilt top needs to be complete to finish this challenge.  More information is shown on website.

Fabric swap coordinator is Olivia .   We will have 3 fabric swaps this year.  February is low volume neutral fabric, June is any holiday fabric and September is stripes or polka dots.  For each swap the member should bring the specific fabric, cut in 4 fat quarters (21x18).  The fat quarters do not have to be 4 of the same fabric, but need to follow the swap guidelines.   They should be put in a bag with the member’s name on it.

Block raffle coordinator is Courtney.  Courtney will announce at February meeting, a block raffle due in March.

Leslie is the retreat coordinator.  Retreat scheduled for April 30 to May 3 2026 at Hotel Millersburg.  Right now we have 1 retreat scheduled in 2026. There will be a limit of 16 people at the retreat. After 16 people sign up there will be a waitlist.  Please see below for reservation instructions and do not reserve your room online.

Room and Retreat sign up: Please call the Hotel Millersburg retreat manager, Jamie at 330-674-1457, extension 3. Jamie works Wednesday through Sunday and the phone rings to her personal cell, so please call at reasonable times. Tell her you are with Leslie Wood's 2026 retreat and give her the dates of the retreat. You can preview the rooms at hotelmillersburg.com, click on "check availability and make reservations".

February meeting demo – Courtney will lead us in the demo called Kinusaiga.  Kinusaiga is a Japanese no-sew fabric art technique where fabric scraps are pressed into slits cut into a backing material (like wood or foam) to create mosaic-like pictures, resembling "painting with fabric" or fabric collage, to form vibrant, textured designs without glue or thread.  Detailed information on what you should bring is listed on the columbusmodernquilters.com website.

April swap -  Any member interested in participating in this swap, should bring a pieced and quilted pillow cover for an 18 x 18 pillow (do not bring a pillow insert).   Bring your completed pillow cover in a bag and we will swap with each other.

5 minute hustle – This is a new program for our group.  Heather told us about her creation “Hobby Nest” which is a website where hobbyists can buy, sell and trade your hobby supplies.  She and her husband have spent many hours and dollars creating a top-notch platform.   You can find more information at www.hobbynest.com, FB @hobbynest, Pinterest @hobbynestmarket,  Instagram @hobbynestmarket.

Any interested members who would like to participate in 5-minute hustle, please contact Leigh.

Show and Tell - 14 members participated in show and tell.  Beautiful work everyone.  Pictures on FB.

Bonnie talked about and wondered if there was interest in an indigo fabric dying class led by Linda Leviton.   Her studio located in Lewis Center OH.
