Quilt Olympics:
The April meeting we met at Quilt Beginnings at the Sawmill location. We did out Quilt Olympics Games. Want to give a big THANK YOU to Jaclyn for planning the games, Quilt beginnings and Sew to Speak for sponsoring the prizes! Here are some of the pictures from the Quilt Olympics:

Fat Eight Swap:
For the fat eight swap you were to bring in one Kona or Moda Solid. Blue seemed to be the popular color.

What to plan for our May meeting?:

**Meeting will be at Red Rooster Quilts 48 Corbins Mill Dr Dublin OH 43017 
**Karen, the owner of Red Rooster, will do a demo on the Quick Curve Ruler
**Elizabeth will do a demo on English Paper Piecing (EPP)
**We will introduce a small EPP challenge!
**We will have our first UFO challenge check-in!

Hive #2- May Block

• Block Design: Please follow this tutorial from We All Sew
• Background: Please use a solid white
• Scrappiness: The block can be scrappy if you'd like, but should read as one color.
• Color palette: Each lady will be assigned a block color. Please see the post on the Facebook group to request your color. Here are the assignments as of this morning, I will update as I hear from each of you:

March Meeting Minutes

Demo:
Cristin did an amazing job with showing us how to fold and organize our fabric. She showed us the art of folding the fabric so we can see everything we have and also folding it in to the same size. Here is a LINK to the blog In Color Order. There is videos on the blog explaining it in cased you missed it or need to see it again.

Charity:
The Ugly Quilt sewing event was a success. They made about 18 quilts. Awesome job ladies!

Other Business:
*Please fill out the UFO forms by the April Meeting. The form and rules can be found HERE. There will also be paper copies at the meeting. There will be four check in for your UFO items they will be May 28th, September 24th, and December 17th.

*Please start wearing name tags to the meetings and you may win a prize! Here is some ideas Leigh found on PINTEREST.

Hive #2- April Block

If you are in Hive 2, you should have received fabric and instructions from Aimee. Please follow the printed tutorial she provided. If you have not received anything from Aimee, please contact her using the contact email I provided earlier in the year, or email me (Joanna Martinez) directly.

Hive #1- April Block

(Hive 1 only! If you're in hive 2, please follow the written instructions provided by Aimee)


For the April Hive 1 Bee block I have picked “X + Plus” blocks.  I asked for these same blocks last year but this year I’d like them to be smaller.  I’ll use this years and last years in the same quilt though.
There is a great Tutorial for making this block by Amy of BadSkirt. Please follow her directions to make a 7.5” finished block (8” unfinished).

Color palette and fabric selection: bold colors of the rainbow. Pastels are OK as long as the whole block is not pastel. Please use multiple colors in the block.  Blender prints are great but please stay away from solids unless it’s for the center plus. Multicolored prints are fine too. Also, please no batiks. The scrappier the better. Please do NOT make the entire block monochromatic though. I would prefer these to be as scrappy and multicolored as possible.    For the lighter background fabric please use a light colored low volume print.
